Target 100 million trees
Akhisar, a leading county of Manisa, having 70 percent of the production of table olives in Turkey will be signed to a record in the number of trees. Akhisar was asked to be a pilot region in the study carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for the purpose of planting olive in the deforested forest areas. With 14 million olive trees still Akhisar, the capital of Turkey, this project will increase the number of trees to 100 million.
Akhisar Commodity Exchange Board, the previous day, met with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli in Ankara. Akhisar Commodity Exchange Board Chairman Alper Alhat, who thanked him for his premium support, and said that this support had a great meaning for the producer. "There are some supports that have the spiritual meaning as well as the moral benefits. This support is one of these. It will be a spiritual power for our farmers who knows that he is a financial contributor to the producer and he is with the state," he said.
EVERYBODY WINS
Alhat, "This support is as much as the producer as well as the olive economy and most importantly to benefit the consumer in the other ring of the chain was of great importance" he noted. Alhat concluded, "This ring also is reduced to one percent from 8 percent VAT on olives. If this can be realized, in this case, from producer to consumer, everbody wins. Lastly we say why not?"
